Scheduling your field trip or group tour.

To schedule a field trip or group tour, please fill out the tour request form. Most week day scheduled tours are guided tours. Allow for at least 1 hour for your visit. Ask about picnicking on the grounds, but please note that there is no sheltered area in case of inclement weather.

Fees

There is no admission charge to tour Louisiana’s Old State Capitol. Audio guides are also complimentary.

If the group would like to see the Ghost of the Castle show, we offer a reduced price ticket rate of $2 per person. Non-group tickets are $3. The 12-minute, multi-media presentation tells the history of our building in a very entertaining way - through the eyes of our "ghost" Sarah Morgan. The show is optional of course, but highly recommended and loved by visitors of all ages.

Guidelines

Louisiana’s Old State Capitol is open to the public so we ask all guests to be courteous to other visitors. Guests cannot run, be noisy, or bring food or gum into the museum.

Please let our scheduler know if any special accommodations are needed ahead of time. If your group exceeds 30 people, please be aware that the group will be split into smaller groups of 30 or less when touring the museum. We cannot accommodate more than 100 guests in one tour. We will split groups randomly unless you have a plan on how would prefer to do this ahead of time.

At least one adult chaperone is needed for every 15 students.

Please let us know if your students would like to visit our Gift Shop, so we may allow time for the group to shop during their visit.

Activities

Our guided tours can also include an interactive activity, time permitting. These fun, engaging activities help students better understand our mission as a political history museum, our historic building and/or our current exhibits. They are designed for different age groups and interests and last between 15-20 minutes. Please click here for a list of activities currently offered.
