Parking Information

Parking is available at the rear of the museum, including designated handicap spaces and ADA accessible entrance.

Street parking is available alongside River Road and North Boulevard. There is also a parking garage located on the corner of 3rd St. and Convention St. about 2 blocks away.

Public Transit

Capitol Park Trolley Service is a FREE DOWNTOWN SERVICE operated by Capitol Area Transit System running Monday through Friday from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm. The trolley runs approximately every 8 minutes.

Directions

From the east (Lafayette):

Take I-10 east to Baton Rouge. Take the left lane Business/Convention Street exit. Stay on Convention Street until you reach Lafayette St. - approximately 8 blocks. Turn left onto Lafayette and then left on North Boulevard.

From the south (New Orleans):

The Friends of the Old State Capitol are responsible for lobbying state and local officials to restore this National Historic Landmark. The Friends of the Old State Capitol provide volunteers and docents to assist the 60,000+ people who visit the building each year.Take I-10 west to Baton Rouge. Take the Business/Convention Street exit. Stay on Convention Street until you reach Lafayette St. - approximately 8 blocks. Turn left onto Lafayette and then left on North Boulevard.

From the North:

Take I-110 to the Government Street exit. Turn right onto Government Street which will curve in front of the River Center and become River Road. You will drive in front of the Old State Capitol. Turn right onto North Boulevard.
