Louisiana's Old State Capitol educates the public on Louisiana's rich history and the democratic process through exhibits, programming and the arts. The museum is dedicated to inspiring engaged citizenship, advancing the collection and preserving this National Historic Landmark. Prominently located in downtown Baton Rouge, we are a free museum open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
During this global pandemic we are committed to continually bringing our museum, exhibits and programs to your home. Through this link you can find various activities for kids of all ages designed to be done at home with everyday items. You can also find our latest exhibits formatted in a 360° view with accompanying lesson plans and activities. All future programming will be virtual and can be found in this portal.
