Overview

What happens when you mix the desire to reduce waste, Pinterest, and the impulse to try new craftivities? You get upcycled feed sack creations!

Join us on April 26, where Conni Pope, conservationist and educator at the Baton Rouge Zoo, will present a program on her process for upcycling feed sack bags, their uses, and a brief history on upcycling for the environment.

This presentation is in conjunction with our current Thrift Style exhibition, which offers an inspiring look at how 20th-century Americans turned necessity into creativity by transforming feed sacks into clothing, aprons, quilts, and more.

*Curated by the Historic Costume and Textile Museum and the Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art at Kansas State University, Thrift Style is on display at Louisiana's Old State Capitol through May 10.
