As the first Black and second female Chief Justice of the Louisiana Supreme Court, Justice Johnson has broken barriers and paved the way for future generations.

Justice Johnson's career is marked by her dedication to justice, equality, and public service. Appointed to the Louisiana Supreme Court in 1994, she served with distinction until her retirement in 2020. Her tenure as Chief Justice, which began in 2013, was characterized by her commitment to judicial reform, improving access to justice, and advocating for the rights of the underserved.
