Nationally acclaimed author and researcher, will share her reflections on the southern perspective of women’s suffrage and democracy

Dr. Nancy Isenberg, the T. Harry Williams professor of American History at Louisiana State University will give a presentation on women's suffrage in conjunction with the opening of our new exhibit, One Half of the People: Advancing Equality for Women.

The author of Sex and Citizenship in Antebellum America will share her reflections on the southern perspective of women’s suffrage up to the ERA and beyond. This nationally acclaimed author and researcher will focus on the struggle for equity in our part of the country up until present day. The presentation will begin at 5:30 P.M. on Wednesday, January 29 at Louisiana's Old State Capitol, with light refreshments served after.
