Overview

Who tells your story?

This is the haunting question posed in the musical, "Hamilton."

Who tells Louisiana's story? The Old State Capitol.

Louisiana’s Old State Capitol has a story unlike any other. It has witnessed war, fire, fistfights, and neglect. This National Historic Landmark is a testament to the resiliency of our state and its people.

We celebrate the spirit of this building each October with a signature fundraising event, The Spirits of Louisiana. Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin, Friends of the Old State Capitol and The Old State Capitol Foundation invite you to the sixth annual Spirits of Louisiana. This year's event will take place Thursday, October 27 and will feature spirits crafted by Louisiana distilleries, catering by Drakes, music, and an art auction-all beneath the beautiful stained-glass dome. Entergy returns as the event's top shelf sponsor.

Our mission is to educate children and adults about our rich history through educational programming and interactive exhibitions. Louisiana’s vibrant history is unique and it’s our goal to share that with visitors. All proceeds from The Spirits of Louisiana go directly to support the museum’s mission. “The Spirits event is a wonderful opportunity for people to enjoy one of Louisiana’s most beautiful and historic buildings while supporting a good cause,” said Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin.

Guests must be 21+ to attend.
