Louisiana’s story, since its geological beginning, has always revolved around water. This story begins to take shape around 200 million years ago as Pangea broke apart and the Gulf of Mexico began to form.
Mountains out West, draining seaways, drastically changing sea levels, evaporation, the advance of the Mississippi River, and glaciation all shaped our landscape long before humans began their modifications.
We are going to discuss how this geological framework affects our current and future conditions, from how we manage natural resources, manage our rivers, design coastal restoration projects, and manage our own well-being.
