Scheduling Your Field Trip
Please email Suzette Crocker or call (225)342-0500 to schedule your tour. Most scheduled tours are guided tours. Allow for at least 1 hour for your visit. Ask about picnicking on the grounds, but please note that there is no sheltered area in case of inclement weather.
There is no admission charge to tour Louisiana’s Old State Capitol. Audio guides are also complimentary.
There is a fee to see the award-winning 12-minute multi-media presentation, “The Ghost of the Castle” if you choose to do so. For groups of six or more, it is $1.50 per person. All others, it is $3 per person. We highly recommend this option for students, ages eight and above.
Guidelines Before Your Visit
Louisiana’s Old State Capitol is open to the public so we ask students to be courteous to other visitors. Students cannot run, be noisy, or bring food or gum into the museum.
Please let our scheduler know if any special accommodations are needed ahead of time.
If your group exceeds 30 people, please be aware that students will be split into smaller groups of 30 or less when touring the museum. We will split classes randomly unless you have a plan on how would prefer to do this ahead of time.
You must have at least one chaperone per 15 students.
Please let us know if your students would like to visit our Gift Shop, so we may allow time for the students to shop during their visit.
